Dr. Robert R. Gruetzmacher

Dr. Gruetzmacher has over 30 years of industrial experience with DuPont in multiple functions across a broad range of responsibilities and technologies.  Specifically these functions have included research, development, manufacturing support, marketing and marketing support, strategic planning, portfolio and grant decision analysis and knowledge management.

Over the past 15 years he has provided corporate leadership on extracting value from intellectual capital focusing on intellectual asset management, licensing and licensing strategies, IP valuation, negotiation and technology transfer, and university collaborations. In so doing, Dr. Gruetzmacher has established an expansive network of contacts and peers in the international consulting, corporate and university communities.

Following retirement from DuPont he served as an independent consultant for Rutgers University’s Office of Technology Commercialization, managing their physical science, engineering, and IT patent portfolios seeking licensing and collaborative opportunities with industry.

  • Director, Intellectual Property and Licensing-DuPont Intellectual Assets Business,

Dr. Gruetzmacher holds a B.A. in Chemistry from Hope College, and an Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Case Western Reserve University.  He is a member of the Licensing Executives Society US & Canada, Licensing Executives Society International, American Chemical Society, Association of University Technology Managers, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He serves on the industrial advisory boards of the Larta Institute in Los Angeles and the Larta/USDA Commercialization Assistance Program. He is a co-founder of ICM Gathering, a community of over 30 companies world-wide that brainstorm and explore novel ways of extracting value from innovation and knowledge-based assets.
